Bakırköy 57th Criminal Court of First Instance convicted former AKUT chairman Nasuh Mahruki of "publicly inciting hatred and hostility" over a social media post about July 15, deferred the announcement of the verdict, and ordered his release. Mahruki had been arrested on July 17.
Mahruki, who faced up to 4.5 years in prison, was released when the verdict was deferred at the first hearing. His wife Mine Mahruki, son Barlas and figures such as Ayşe Kulin and Sunay Akın attended the hearing. In his defence, Mahruki said he saw no crime in his post.
