Justice Minister Gürlek announced that under the Council of Judges and Prosecutors (HSK)'s September 16 decision, service points and point ranking will become the main criteria for judge and prosecutor appointments, ending the east-west divide. The new system will begin with the 2027 Main Decree.
Gürlek stated that under the new system, promotion and inspection results and merit indicators would be reflected in the scoring. In the current system, judges and prosecutors were required to serve in regions considered 'eastern' for two to seven years. With the latest decree, the posts of 4,967 judges and prosecutors were changed.
