Following the 4.62 lira increase on 17 September, diesel exceeded 100 lira in Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir; a 50-litre tank surpassed 5,000 lira. The rise is reflected in agricultural and transportation costs.
Hasan Murat Kapıkıran, head of the Chamber of Agricultural Engineers, said the increase deepens cost pressure in production. The fuel support given per decare for grains covers the purchase of four litres at 100 lira per litre. All stages from tractors to irrigation pumps, harvesting and transportation are affected.
