Following an application by the Yenilik Party, the Court of Cassation (Yargıtay) Chief Public Prosecutor's Office sent Yeni Parti a notice regarding a name change; CHP leader Özgür Özel said they would not change the name, but if the Constitutional Court finds "there is confusion," they would proceed with a minor change.
All eyes are on the Constitutional Court for the decision. Özel said that if a name change is necessary, they would not make a radical change but would continue with a minor update. Özel, who argued that the party's name was given by the nation, said they would not let anyone change it.
