In the moral damages lawsuit filed by Fuat Oktay, the Constitutional Court ruled that ordering Özel to pay 10,000 lira constituted a violation of freedom of expression; it decided that Özel should be paid 50,000 lira in compensation and that the file be sent back to the Ankara 25th Civil Court of First Instance for retrial.[TRUNC]
Özel had made accusations in a press conference at the TBMM in 2020 regarding Oktay's past positions at Türk Telekom and YİMPAŞ. Oktay filed a lawsuit for 150,000 lira in damages, and the local court ruled for 10,000 lira. The AYM sent the case for retrial to eliminate the consequences of the violation.
