In Zonguldak, a father and mother accused of beating their 17-year-old daughter and chaining her to a bed were arrested. Gendarmerie found the girl handcuffed and chained, while bruises were detected on four siblings, who were placed under state protection.
The couple claimed in their statements at the courthouse that their daughter went to a shopping mall without permission and tried to run away. Before his arrest, father Selahattin T. told journalists, "Whoever doesn't beat their daughter, beats their knee." The other children, aged 5, 11, and 14, were also taken into protection by the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services.
