The İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) Council unanimously approved a proposal granting students who load a transit pass between September 21 and October 17 a one-time monthly pass for 1 lira (TL). During discussions it was noted that the student transit pass fee had risen from 40 lira to 653 lira between 2019 and 2026.
The one-time, single-month application will cover all students with an Istanbulkart. During council discussions, AK Party member Muhammet Kaynar noted that the monthly pass rose from 40 lira in 2019 to 653 lira. CHP's Melendiz Dalyan İzgi said diesel prices increased from 6-7 lira to 95 lira over the same period.
