Barrack: Erdoğan and Trump to meet in New York during UN General Assembly

US Ambassador to Ankara Tom Barrack announced that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and US President Donald Trump would meet in New York during the 81st UN General Assembly. The day and time of the meeting have not yet been announced.

Türkiye condemns attempted drone attack targeting Mecca

The Foreign Ministry said it "strongly" condemned a Houthi drone attack targeting Mecca and reiterated its support for Saudi Arabia's sovereignty. The Saudi military said the drone was shot down south of the city; Houthi official Hizam al-Assad denied the claim.

Trump expected to meet Gulf leaders at UN General Assembly

According to Axios sources, Trump will discuss post-Iran war strategy with representatives of Gulf Cooperation Council countries at the UN General Assembly starting September 22. Reuters reported that the war has spread to Yemen and Saudi Arabia and that oil supply risks have increased.

US rejects Abbas's visa request for UN General Assembly

The US rejected the visa applications of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and some Palestinian officials, who were expected to speak at the UN General Assembly in New York next week. Fidan comments on Israel and Greece during Syria visit

Türkiye condemns drone attempt targeting Mecca; Houthis deny the claim

Where reports differ

State media and pro-government press TRT Haber and Hürriyet reported the incident as a Houthi attack attempt targeting Mecca and highlighted Türkiye's condemnation statement along with reactions from AKP and Communications Directorate officials.
Opposition-leaning and foreign press Evrensel and DW Turkish presented the report as a "claim," and also conveyed Houthi officials' statement that "the claim that Mecca was targeted is a stale lie," as well as the Houthis' counter-claims regarding Saudi airstrikes.

51st Commando Brigade relocated to Söke, Fidan calls on Greece for "good neighborliness"

The 51st Commando Brigade, previously stationed in Tunceli, has been relocated to Söke in Aydın province, opposite Greece's Samos Island, with about 2,000 troops now deployed there. Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on Greece for good neighborliness, saying the militarization of the islands poses a threat.
