AK Party will submit to the approval of lawmakers in the new legislative term of the Grand National Assembly (TBMM) opening in October the bill it prepared to declare 21 March Nevruz a public holiday.
It was stated that the legal groundwork work started with the instruction given by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan last year has been completed. If the bill is accepted, 21 March will be the tenth public holiday and the practice will first come into effect on 21 March 2027. Total holiday time will rise to 16.5 days.
