According to Israel Army Radio, security officials recommended increasing the fleet to 8, citing expectations that Türkiye’s submarine count will rise to 18.
Israel currently has 5 submarines, and a sixth is expected to arrive soon. Under the agreement with Germany, Tel Aviv has the option to purchase a seventh submarine at the same price. Talks on an eighth submarine are also ongoing.
