S.Ö., who suffered a heart attack during an artificial-turf football tournament organized by his employer, passed away after approximately three months of medical treatment; the Social Security Institution (SGK) recorded the incident as a workplace accident. The fault allocation determined in the family's compensation lawsuit was re-evaluated by the Court of Cassation (Yargıtay).
The Labor Court accepted the death as a work accident and assigned 60 percent fault to the defendant company and 40 percent to the other defendant company. The Court of Cassation ruled that the fault rates should be reassessed. The plaintiff family claimed that there was no first aid team or ambulance at the match.
