Education Minister Yusuf Tekin said on a CNN Türk broadcast that there was an option of either requiring compliance with dress-code regulations or the use of smocks, and that they preferred the smock. Tekin also commented on mobile phones in classrooms, school registrations and PISA results.
Tekin said the apron practice was preferred instead of insisting on compliance with the dress code regulation in Law No. 657. He reminded that limiting mobile phone use is among the PISA recommendations. He stated that parental preferences in school enrollment can create imbalances.
