The first demolition began with a ceremony in the 1st phase of the urban transformation project covering 718 independent units in Adapazarı's Tığcılar Neighborhood; the municipality reported that 91% of right holders reached an agreement.
Governor Rahmi Doğan, Metropolitan Mayor Yusuf Alemdar, and deputies attended the demolition ceremony. As part of the project, the demolition of the first building began with construction machinery. Doğan stated that the February 6 earthquake cost the state 110 billion dollars.
