In Ordu, the free market price for hazelnuts is 170-180 lira per kilogram, and 190 lira in Giresun; the Soil Products Office's (TMO) Levant-quality purchase price is cited in sources as either 250 or 255 lira. The Trade Ministry and Competition Authority are reported to have launched a field investigation.
In Giresun the price difference reached 65,000 lira per tonne. Some 100,000 producers in two districts have made appointments to deliver to TMO. Inspectors from the Trade Ministry and the Competition Authority have begun on-site inspections.
