Two communiqués published in the Official Gazette reduced fat classes for drinking milk to four and restricted the use of sugar and syrup; rules on döner labeling and fat ratio in meat products were also revised. Businesses will have until March 31, 2027 to comply.
The new regulation removes intermediate fat classes for drinking milk, reducing them to four categories, and bans sugar derivatives in flavored products. The meat regulation divides doner into three types, lowers the fat ratio in chicken doner to 15 percent, and prevents the use of seasonings in sucuk and pastrami. Existing businesses are given until March 2027 to comply.
