With a letter sent by Education Minister Yusuf Tekin to 81 provincial governorships on September 9, 2026, lesson duration can be reduced from 40 minutes to 30 minutes in some schools.
The regulation covers official primary and secondary education institutions that provide education in another building due to demolition-reconstruction or reinforcement, and that conduct double-session education due to density. Governorships will decide where it will be implemented. The reduction will not take effect automatically.
