Melek K., who was on trial due to her social media posts, was released at the first hearing after the prosecutor's opinion of punishment and release. The court postponed the hearing to October 6.
At the hearing at Mardin Courthouse 3rd Criminal Court of First Instance, an opinion was given that Melek K. should be punished under articles 217/A and 218 of the Turkish Penal Code. In her defense, Melek K. stated that her posts belonged to a member of parliament and that she shared them without examination, saying she was regretful.
