The Ankara 89th Criminal Court of First Instance decided to release Mehmet Cemil Acar, the former DHMİ department head tried on charges of "bribery" and "corruption", citing his period of detention. 26 kilograms of bullion gold, 1.32 million dollars, and 121 thousand euros had been found in a safe at his home.
The court took into account the time Acar spent in detention. In the search of his home, 26 kilograms of gold bullion, 1 million 320 thousand dollars and 121 thousand euros were seized. The Transport and Infrastructure Ministry had reported that he acquired assets disproportionate to his income.
