Yeni Parti Diyarbakır MP Sezgin Tanrıkulu said that mostly retired citizens have been queuing since 5 a.m. in front of the Meat and Milk Authority branch in Kayapınar, that ground beef costs 400 lira and cubed meat 450 lira per kilo, and that not everyone gets served.
Tanrıkulu said those in line got tickets at 08:30 and, from 09:30 onward, could only buy 1 kilogram of minced meat or cubed meat. He emphasized that people waited four to five hours for meat that was 300-400 lira cheaper than butcher prices.
